FAQS – Trades Pain
The Ride: CBD & Motorcycling
- Will CBD affect my riding ability?
Unlike THC, CBD is non-psychoactive and does not cause a “high” or impair motor skills. Many riders use it to maintain focus by reducing the distraction of physical discomfort. However, it is generally recommended to experience the effects of CBD in a controlled environment before engaging in activities like riding. - How can CBD help with long-distance touring?
Long hours in the saddle often lead to joint stiffness, “vibration fatigue,” and lower back ache. CBD interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system to help manage inflammation and support muscle recovery, potentially making long rides more manageable. - When is the best time to take it?
Individuals may choose to take CBD at different times based on their needs. Some prefer a morning routine to support comfort during the ride, while others may take it in the evening to potentially aid sleep and muscle recovery.
Legality & Safety
- Is CBD legal in the UK?
Yes. CBD is legal in the UK as long as it contains less than 0.2% THC and is derived from an industrial hemp strain approved by the Home Office. - What is a “Novel Food” and is Bikers Pain compliant?
In the UK, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) classifies CBD as a “Novel Food,” meaning it requires a safety assessment. We only source CBD from suppliers who are on the FSA Public List, ensuring our products meet the highest safety and regulatory standards.
The Science & Usage
- What is the difference between Full Spectrum and Broad Spectrum?
Full Spectrum contains all the natural compounds of the hemp plant, including legal trace amounts of THC, to potentially create the “Entourage Effect”. Broad Spectrum contains those same beneficial compounds but has the THC completely removed. - How much should I take?
It is generally recommended to start with a minimal amount and gradually adjust based on individual needs and how the body responds. The FSA recommends a maximum daily intake for healthy adults. It is best to consult with a healthcare professional for personalized guidance. - Can I take CBD with my other medications?
CBD can potentially interact with certain medications. If you are taking any prescription medication, it is strongly advised to consult your GP before adding CBD to your routine.
- CBD is not suitable for anyone under the age of 18, or for those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to conceive.
